VLGC Chaparral Joins Dorian’s Fleet

Connecticut-based liquefied petroleum gas shipping company Dorian LPG took delivery of its sixteenth newbuilt ECO very large gas carrier (VLGC) Chaparral from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries on November 20th, 2015.


Featuring 84,000 cbm, Chaparral will trade in the Helios LPG Pool, the company said.


Including the newly-delivered VLGC, Dorian LPG currently owns and operates nineteen modern VLGCs and one pressurized LPG vessel.


The company has three more 84,000 cbm ECO VLGCs under construction, one at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and two at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. One of these will be delivered by the end of the year, and the remaining two are expected to join the fleet in 2016.
