NCL Returns to Fincantieri for a New Cruise Ship
Miami-based cruise company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has placed an order to construct a sister ship to Seven Seas Explorer for its Regent Seven Seas Cruises with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.
The contract price for the vessel is EUR 422 million (USD 480.8 million) and the company has committed financing in place from a syndicate of banks for export credit financing in connection with this order.
Scheduled for delivery in 2020, the new ship will retain many of the features and amenities that its sister ship Seven Seas Explorer has, however, the company has not disclosed the details for the new ship yet.
“We expect that the positive impact on earnings and impressive return on investment from Seven Seas Explorer will be significant and that her sister vessel will make a similar contribution,” Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, said.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s 750-passenger cruise ship Seven Seas Explorer, which is currently under construction at Fincantieri, is scheduled to debut in July 2016.
At 54,000 gross-registered tons, Seven Seas Explorer will be the flagship of the fleet.
