China Ningbo Ocean Shipping Orders Boxship Quartet

China’s Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co., part of Ningbo Port Group, has ordered four 1,000 TEU container ships from compatriot Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding.

The 12,200 dwt vessels will be 139 meters long, 25 meters wide, and have a draft of 8 meters.

Equipped with high tunnel thruster,they will sail at speeds of up to 14 knots.

The first of four boxships is scheduled for delivery in February 2017, the shipbuilder said, without specifying any financial details.

The vessels will be classed by the China Classification Society (CSS).
